Are young people affected by COVID-19?
Yes, the current data shows COVID-19 cases are affecting everyone from the early ’30s to the elderly due to a lack of immunity. The elderly with comorbidities (pre-existing underlying health issues) have a higher mortality risk once infected with this disease. The younger age group can experience mild symptoms or be asymptomatic carriers and should exercise caution. There have been cases of younger patients without any comorbidities admitted to the ICU for pneumonia-like breathing problems requiring life-saving machine ventilation.
